CCR- Preliminary Task 2

1 comment:

  1. BROOKE –

    Total: 32/50

    FILM-

    OVERALL: 17/30 (Level 3, AO3)

Thriller conventions mostly clear, although execution of intended technique needs development in places. More evidence needed of revisions to decision making during planning, filming, and editing.

    Final Product-
I don’t know why exactly, but I can’t set the resolution higher than 480p when viewing. Work out with Alexis the differences – could be either how you loaded it to your blog or some setting or another when you exported it.
Diegetic sound comes out of left channel only. Very strange. Perhaps can be addressed in editing? Need it to be stereo. Have a look.
Why the repetition of Sasha’s name when she’s already walking onstage? Effect you’re going for is unclear.
Remember the “Saboteur” shot and first PoV shot that needed to be shakier. Why wasn’t she noticeable? Remember, the eye is drawn to the lightest points on the screen. Plan for this type of thing in your filming; what adjustments might you make to the lighting that could direct the audience’s focus where you want it?
Sasha’s disappearing blackout takes too long before lights come back up.
Good ending sequence. Strong attention to effects of sound and timing. Also good choice of font. Impersonality of it seems distancing and therefore cold. (Which I’m sure you were going for, right?) :)

    PLANNING-

    OVERALL: 7/10 (Level 4, AO4)

    Planning-
Sasha’s “perfection which the other girls are jealous of” is not clear in the film, though I think it may have added to audience reaction against the saboteur. How could you have gotten that into the film?
First mention of Sasha-2 as “S2” in your costume/props section is a bit unclear.
Otherwise, Costume List entry is strong.
Script picture is good, yet should also include commentary on choices you made such as changes to the script and rationale behind key moments.
What changes and revisions did you make during the planning process? Having all versions of your planning available is vital; it documents the process you went through to make the final product into what it is.

    Group blog-
Unclear what elements were completed by who. Put your name in the titles of entries composed by you (see group blog entries from 2015).

    CCR-
    OVERALL: 8/10 (Level 2, AO2)

The point of the CCR is to reflect on what you did and how effective it was. Most of what you’ve written shows what you did though not necessarily how well you thought it worked and what you could’ve done to improve it. Still, what is there is mostly very well considered.

    PURPOSE-
Love the considerations of this slide; I think your concept shows that this project was an ambitious undertaking, yet ultimately I feel the full scope of your ideas are not realised in the film. Question #4 should confront this reality and consider how you could have encompassed all this in your end product.
    QUESTION 1-
“Picture Perfect” & “fitting in” nature of Identity not really clear in film, yet I think you absolutely question the core concept of identity, and your rationale is strong.
    QUESTION 3-
Very nice. Good evaluation of what has needed improvement in the past and how you’ve adjusted your approach to suit.
    QUESTION 4-
Raw footage & audio is not an integration of technology. However, applying FX through Premiere Pro in order to enhance particular camera / sound choices is definitely integrating technologies. That sort of thing. Basically, first observation is not valid but the rest are fine.

Finally, you will eventually be inserting Question 2. Re-number your slides.
